California love

"There is science, logic, reason; there is thought verified by experience. And then there is California." Edward Abbey

Last week I left the mountains of Asheville to go to California for meetings with the Shift Bars team. It's been awhile since I've flown anywhere, and since this trip was the culmination of so many dreams, I was seriously jazzed.

So much happened, it felt like a blur:

Meeting my team members in person was amazing. They are, to the person, incredible people and each has so many wonderful talents and perspectives. I'm beyond honored to have them working with me.

We toured the facility where Shift Bars will be made - and it was better than I imagined. Conscious people, a gorgeous facility, and a strong dedication to all things organic - it felt like a match made in heaven. They even made samples for us, which was like seeing my child for the first time!!!

Then we were off to Santa Barbara to meet with one the members of our advisory board. A heavy hitter to say the least, this person was so unbelievably warm and generous that his interest in our project had me pinching myself. When he drove off in his electric car, I had a grin from ear to ear!
Then it was time for some fun. So many times, I plan business trips thinking only about the things that have to get done...and totally forget to schedule in some time for exploring and fun.

Not this time. I took two full days to play at the beach, reconnect with friends I hardly ever get to see in person, and eat some of the world's best food.

All is all, it was a magical trip, and reaffirmed that this launch is going to be huge! I'm so excited to be able to share Shift Bars with a huge audience and really create some shift in the world's health and happiness.

Some final takeaways about LA:
  • It takes me about 3 days to get used to West Coast time. Just about when I was sleeping normally, it was time to head home :-)
  • There are more healthy food options in LA than anywhere I've ever been...but the traffic in between them is staggering. CLICK TO TWEET
  • People in LA are #FeelinTheBern. I wore my T-shirt that says "Bernie Freakin' Sanders" to the beach and got more comments than I could count.
  • Minute Suites are the greatest invention of all time. I stopped at one during my layover Atlanta after a 2:30AM wake-up call and had the best nap of my life. Worth every penny.
Your turn - what's your all-time favorite business trip? What made it so special? Please tell me all about it on the Shift Bars Facebook page. Maybe you'll spark some ideas for my next team retreat!
