All the cool kids are doing it!

Happy Shift Day! I know, I know- Wednesdays are usually known as "Hump Day". As in "I'm halfway done with the workweek so I can coast a bit". This week, I am shifting that to, "What if I turn it up a notch for the rest of the week- what could I accomplish?!?!" Wanna join me? If the very thought of that makes you want to curl up and take a nap, your diet could be partly to blame. I know from experience that when my physical energy is low, my mental, emotional and spiritual energy is low, too. Meaning any well-intentioned person who tells me to "think positive" is going to get a raised eyebrow and some not-so-nice mental chatter from yours truly. Shocking, I know :-) But when I am eating clean and taking care of myself, the downs of life don't seem nearly as bad. I can see the big picture and know that whatever is going on, it's temporary. I feel in my gut that everything is always working out for me. Recently, two of my favorite spiritual teachers, Gabrielle Bernstein and Mastin Kipp, both announced that they have gone sugar-free. Coincidence? I think not. Check out the links above and see if you can resonate with either Gabby or Mastin. I know for me, when I had my physical breakthrough in 2007 after cleaning up my diet, it felt like a veil had been lifted off my eyes- I could see the world clearly for the first time since I was a child. If that sounds like a feeling you would like a little more of in your life, consider cutting out the sugar for awhile. Or at least switching to one of the healthier sweeteners out there like stevia, monk fruit or coconut nectar. You still have your Sweetener Smackdown to help you out, right?!?! (If not, shoot me an email and I will happily resend it to you:) Have you ever gone sugar-free? What did it feel like? Please share your story on our Facebook page and be specific. I know when I hear about changes people have made, the more detailed they are, the more excited i get that it can work for me, too. To your Shift Day, Emily
